Travelling tips to maiduguri

 DO YOUR RESEARCH

Get to know your destination in depth before you arrive. Read traveler reviews and consult with locals for information about the safest neighborhoods, places to stay and incidences of crime.

DONT DRAW ATTENTION

People who look like theyre from out of town are especially vulnerable to crime, so try to blend in as much as you can. Choose inconspicuous clothing that won't attract attention. Be discreet when looking at maps and approach people carefully if you need to ask for directions.

Also consider investing in protective clothing and gear that will make it more difficult for pickpockets to steal money and other personal items.

KEEP YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY UPDATED

No matter whether youre going, on an overnight jaunt or a month-long international journey, its always a good idea to let friends or family back home know. Before you leave, send a copy of your itinerary to a few trusted people who can keep tabs on your whereabouts. Check in regularly with your contacts so they know youre where youre supposed to be.

BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Dont let your guard down to snap the perfect picture for your social media platforms. Keep an eye on your personal belongings at all times and use good judgment when talking to strangers. A big part of the joy of traveling is the opportunities it affords to meet new people and learn about their cultures. But if someone near you is acting suspiciously, or if you feel uncomfortable, leaPutting aside the fact that traveling with anything super valuable is usually a bad idea, there will always be something you absolutely cannot afford to have stolen. I travel with a lot of expensive camera gear for example.

Supervise the area immediately.

DONT SHARE TO MUCH WITH STRANGERS

If youre ever tempted to make your itinerary more public, say in a Facebook post, just remember it can be a roadmap of your movements  just the sort of thing someone with ill-intentions would love to know.

I also dont recommend sharing too many details about your travel plans or accommodation details with people youve just met. For example, dont tell a local shop owner or street tout where youre staying when asked.

BE AWARE OF YOUR CLOTHE

When it comes to travel, the wrong clothes scream TOURIST and make you a target for scammers, thieves and worse. The less obviously a visitor you look, the less attention youll get from the wrong kind of people.

Wearing the right clothes is a sign of respect.

TELL YOUR BANK WHERE YOU ARE GOING

Imagine the agony of doing absolutely everything right and keeping yourself perfectly safe and secure  only to have your trip ruined because your bank thinks youre the thief, and locks down all your cards.

NOTICE TO ALL UNIMAID STUDENTS

 (2) Don't sleep at any place close to Maiduguri, especially this area Jakana, Auno, Mainok, Beneshirk and Ngamdu..... It is advisable to Just Sleep in Damaturu and continue the journey the next day

(3) If the driver insist to continue the journey after 3pm just drop down in    Damaturu.

(4) To the females who wear trousers, please its advisable that you suspend it for the sake of the journey....... Appear decent.

 (5) Be conscious of the driver and the person sitting beside you.

(6) Just so you know that plying the road with military kits or ID is dangerous,  be advised not to journey that road with anything that may point out your identity.

(7) Watch closely at the other lane of the road, and if after five minutes of observation no vehicle is coming, be smart to ask the driver to park.

(8) Be mindful of the way you respond to phone calls you receive so that you won't give anybody a clue of who you are.

(9)I heard some students asking other students to give them their numbers so they can meet at the park in their state and travel together in groups,  for security reasons,  it is wise at a time like this to travel separately.

(10)And lastly, make arrangements for your temporal Accommodation before   the hostels will be reopened.

We wish you all safe journey.

But that kind of shallow breathing you do when you’re angry keeps you in fight-or-flight mode. To combat this, try taking slow, controlled breaths you inhale from your belly rather than your chest. This allows your body to instantly calm itself. You can also keep this breathing exercise in your back pocket: Find a chair or place where you can comfortably sit, allowing your neck and shoulders to fully relax. Breathe deeply through your nose, and pay attention to your tummy rising. Exhale through your mouth.
